Sackcloth + Ashes: Inspired by a mother’s first-hand experience with homelessness and founded to provide dignity and hope for every community member, no matter their circumstances.
Since our inception in 2007, Heyday has been committed to the importance of supporting our local community. We strive to help improve the quality of life for our local community, and giving back is at the core of our company’s value. When we discovered the company Sackcloth + Ashes in 2024, we were beyond excited to share their mission with our community.
Sackcloth + Ashes was founded by Bob Dalton in 2013. He was inspired to help the homeless community when his mother found herself living on the streets. After contacting homeless shelters to ask how he could help, they all said they needed blankets. This was when he founded Sackcloth + Ashes, a mission-driven company designed to give back. With every blanket purchased the company donates a blanket to a local homeless shelter.
The quality of Sackcloth + Ashes blankets goes beyond the mission. They are made sustainably in Italy, using 100% recycled materials, and proudly finished in the USA.
Sackcloth + Ashes blankets are made from donated clothing and factory scraps, saved from landfills. The recycled fabrics are shredded into fibers through a water-free, dye-free, chemical-free carding process. Blended fibers create a unique palette without dyes, then are spun into yarn and woven on a Jacquard loom to produce high-quality blankets with beautiful patterns. The blankets are finished with a brushing process adding softness and twisted warp yarn on each end to create the signature tassels.
Like us, our customers have fallen in love with these beautiful blankets and the Sackcloth + Ashes mission. Thanks to our customers' support and the purchase of these throw blankets, we have donated 600 blankets to our local homeless warming shelters at the Human Resource Development Center HRDC, in Bozeman, Montana and the Butte Rescue Mission, in Butte, Montana.
Sackcloth + Ashes has created a very special blanket to donate to the shelter. While the blankets sold are large throw-size blankets, the blankets donated are the same heavy, soft quality, but designed a bit larger to fit a twin-size bed for the shelters. They have also recently launched kids-sized blankets. With every child’s blanket sold, they donate a blanket to a child in foster care.
This company has inspired us to continue to support other mission-driven companies, who are dedicated to doing good to strengthen a community through love, kindness, and contribution. Visit us in store for a larger selection of Sackcloth + Ashes throw blankets.
