Fall is settling in around Bozeman, and our Heyday team is leaning into all the best parts of the season: new books, favorite local spots, fresh playlists, little obsessions, and plenty of reasons to treat ourselves. With the holiday season just around the corner, we’re fueling up, finding inspiration, and making the most of these golden days while they last.
If you’re new here, R.E.P.O.R.T. is our way of sharing what’s happening behind the scenes at Heyday. Each letter covers what we’re Reading, Eating, Playing, Obsessing Over, Recommending, and Treating Ourselves To right now. Think of it as a peek at what our team is loving, talking about, and trying around town.
So grab a coffee, settle in, and see what made the list this fall. You might discover your next favorite book, a new local spot to try, or simply a good excuse to treat yourself.
Reading
Fall is officially here, which means we're settling into our favorite kind of routine: good books, good conversations, and a little more time to get lost in a story. This year, we've also turned reading into a team affair with our new Heyday Breakfast Club, where we gather each month to talk books, swap recommendations, and spend some time connecting outside of the day-to-day. Consider this your peek at what's currently making its way onto our nightstands:
Our Heyday Breakfast Club is currently reading Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Set against the backdrop of NASA's early Space Shuttle program, this historical fiction novel is full of ambition, love, and survival. It's already given us plenty to talk about, and we're only getting started. We can't wait to see where everyone's opinions land by our next breakfast meetup.
Linds is diving into Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke, a book that seems to be on everyone's reading list right now. The satirical psychological thriller follows a successful “tradwife” influencer who mysteriously wakes up on her farm as it existed in 1855. It's the kind of premise that immediately makes you want to know what happens next, and Linds is currently hooked. The reviews seem to be a little more love it or love to hate it, so we'll have to check back in once she's finished. And with a movie adaptation already in the works starring Anne Hathaway? We'll definitely be watching.
Eva is reading Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy, an eco-thriller centered around isolation, climate change, and buried secrets. And honestly, when a book comes with a Reese's Book Club pick emblazoned on the cover, that's usually a pretty good sign. As we head into the cooler months, we're always up for a thriller that makes staying in and turning one more page feel like the right choice.
Eating
With the holiday season just around the corner, we're fueling up accordingly. From sourdough bagels and very good burgers to cozy lunches and seasonal drinks, our team has been doing plenty of research on the best ways to eat our way into fall. Here’s what’s currently on our plate:
Tessa is starting the day with Yardsale Bagels, Bozeman's new bagel truck serving up sourdough bagels, seasonal flavors, and seriously delicious breakfast sandwiches. Parked outside Kiln and Roly Poly on 19th, it's quickly becoming a go-to for a grab-and-go breakfast (or a very convincing reason to make a morning bagel run).
Eleni has officially declared the smashburger at Revelry the BEST EVER. And honestly, we have to agree. The housemade pickles and cowboy jalapeños really level it up. And being right across Tracy from us certainly doesn’t hurt. A reliable neighborhood go-to when the burger craving hits? We'll take it.
Michelle is meeting friends for lunch at Beacon Coffee Roasters, where the paninis are her order of choice. There’s something about a warm, melty sandwich on a crisp fall day that just works. Conveniently located near campus and not far from downtown, it’s an easy spot to settle in, catch up, and pair your lunch with one of their seasonal drinks.
Playing
A new season calls for a new soundtrack, a little friendly competition, and something good to listen to on the way to work. Here’s what’s keeping our team entertained this fall:
The Heyday crew is back at it with our annual NFL Pick ’Ems league! We’re officially in year three, and the competition is getting fierce. It may be a little less complicated than fantasy football, but that certainly doesn’t mean we’re taking it any less seriously. The friendly trash talk is underway, and we’re looking forward to seeing who takes home the bragging rights this year.
Andrea is giving her fall playlist a refresh with Grace Potter’s latest album, Trespasser. Blending blues, Americana, and a little classic rock storytelling, it feels like a pretty perfect soundtrack for the changing seasons. The album was inspired in part by Grace’s cross-country drives between California and Vermont, which makes us want to queue it up for our own autumn road trip. And since Grace has played in Montana before, we’re keeping our fingers crossed she makes it back this way soon.
Brig is listening to Good Life Project, our latest recommendation from the podcast queen herself. Brig always seems to have a good podcast queued up, so we’re taking her word for it and adding this one to the rotation. With conversations about living a more connected, engaged, and meaningful life, it’s the kind of listen that might actually make your morning feel a little more productive.
Obsessing Over
Some things are fleeting fall trends. Others become full-blown obsessions. From homemade sourdough to local coffee and a pair of earrings that somehow ended up on half the team, here’s what we can’t stop talking about:
Katie is fully in her sourdough era. She’s currently working on perfecting her own loaf and using Sourdough Everything, a book we happen to carry in store, for a little guidance along the way. Honestly, Sourdough Everything sounds like a pretty good autobiography title if you ask us.
Lindsey is hooked on Fozzy Coffee, a new mobile coffee cart run by a husband-and-wife duo serving up delicious seasonal drinks made with homemade syrups. They pop up around town at events like the farmers market, but you can also preorder their weekly pre-batched jug lattes for your next gathering (or, you know, just because). We're always here for a local coffee obsession.
Traci, our resident fashionista, is currently obsessed with our new Mind’s Eye Glass Bubble Earrings. And she’s not alone. Several Heyday employees made a beeline for a pair as soon as they hit the shop. The translucent glass bubbles catch the light beautifully and add just the right amount of playful polish to any outfit. Apparently, our team has collectively decided we need them.
Recommending
We’re always swapping recommendations around the shop, and this fall’s list has a little something for everyone. From a feel-good movie to a new workout routine and a self-care staple we’re stocking up on, here’s what our team thinks you should try next:
Georgia is recommending Form Pilates, the cutest studio on the north side, which just celebrated its first anniversary! Whether you’re brand new to Pilates or a seasoned pro, looking to stretch it out or pulse it out, Form has something for you. And a special shoutout to Georgia for recently hitting her 100th class. Now that’s commitment.
Mal is recommending Voicemails for Isabelle, her latest movie obsession. Equal parts funny and heartfelt, it’s one of those sweet movies that takes you through the full range of emotions—happy tears, sad tears, and everything in between. If you’re looking for something that will leave you feeling all the feels, add it to your Netflix list.
Emma is recommending Pure Good Tallow, one of the newest lines to hit our shelves. The tallow sticks for face, body, and lips are quickly becoming a favorite, especially as we head into the drier months. The roll-up tubes make them incredibly easy to apply and even easier to toss in your bag. Tallow is definitely having a moment, and we’re always excited to find a great new line worth stocking up on.
Treating Ourselves
Fall is all about finding little excuses to slow down, savor the season, and treat yourself along the way. Whether that means a sweet treat, some serious R&R, or making the most of Montana’s beautiful outdoors, here’s how our team is indulging this fall:
Amy is treating herself to ice cream at Mad Dawg Maple Co., a soft-serve trailer serving up organic, family-farm maple goodness. You can find them outside Roly Poly’s original location on Broadway, and while we know this is technically our fall report, summer isn’t officially over yet! Plus, being right next to a coffee shop opens up one very important possibility: an affogato. You’re welcome.
Bevin is getting her R&R at Bozeman Hot Springs. Between the warm and cold pools, saunas, and steam rooms, it’s pretty much the perfect place to hit reset. And if unwinding isn’t enough of a reason to go, they also host live music next to the outdoor pools through October. A little hot soak, a little music, and a whole lot of relaxation? Sounds like a fall evening well spent.
Christy is treating herself to sunset horseback rides, which feels very appropriate for our resident horse girl. There’s something pretty unbeatable about being on horseback as summer fades into fall, especially when Montana’s landscape starts showing off with changing leaves, golden light, and big-sky sunsets. We have a feeling Christy knows a thing or two about making the most of it.
