The Limited-Edition Boob Candle

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Boobs, Candles, and a Cause

As we step into another Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we at Heyday are proud to continue a tradition that means so much to our community. For the fifth year, we’ve partnered with local maker Lori Palmer of Uncommon Scents to create our limited-edition Boob Candles.

Lori brings incredible passion to this project, having been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2024 and now in full recovery, her journey is a powerful reminder of the importance of early detection and regular mammograms.

Through her strength and resilience, she inspires us to raise awareness and support for this critical cause with every candle we create.

A Year Later: Lori’s Reminder of the Importance of Mammograms

Lori’s breast cancer journey began like that of many women—without a family history and never considered high risk. In 2024, during her routine annual mammogram, something concerning appeared. A needle biopsy confirmed the unexpected: breast cancer. In that moment, denial set in. Lori had no symptoms, no family history, and had always prioritized her health. Yet suddenly, she found herself navigating a whirlwind of appointments with surgeons and oncologists, and complex discussions about treatment plans.

Like 42% of women over 40, Lori has dense breast tissue, which makes detecting abnormalities more challenging. The FDA now requires that women with dense tissue be informed by their physicians about the need for additional screenings. For Lori, routine mammograms were a normal part of her health care journey. Over the years, she had undergone multiple biopsies—always precautionary, always benign—so this diagnosis came as a shock.

Fortunately, Lori’s cancer was caught early, thanks to her consistent screenings. She underwent a lumpectomy and radiation, and because her cancer was hormone-fed, she now takes medication to suppress estrogen. While the physical treatments were demanding, Lori says the emotional journey has been the hardest, describing it as grateful one moment, devastated the next.

Through it all, Lori remains strong and committed to raising awareness about the importance of early detection. Her message is clear: without that mammogram, her cancer might not have been caught in time. Mammograms save lives.

Fueled by Meaning

“Over the past five years, I’ve loved collaborating with Heyday to create a candle that gives back to organizations supporting breast cancer—from early screenings to those navigating their journey. As a survivor, I know firsthand just how meaningful these efforts can be.” – Lori Palmer, Uncommon Scents

The Boob Candle Project: A Unique Collaboration

In honor of Lori’s journey and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re excited to continue our boob candle project—a heartfelt collaboration between makers and artists. This year we collaborated with our designer and artist, Amy Partrick who created unique boob design applied to a classic glass candle vessel. The great thing about this vessel is it is perfectly repurposed.

Lori lovingly fills each piece with 6 oz. of her signature soy-based blend, scented with Bergamot Black Tea—a captivating mix of bergamot, lime, Earl Grey tea leaves, cucumber, beeswax, amber, and musk.

REPURPOSE

Make it Yours!

Make the impact live on! Each candle can be repurposed once it’s burned-whether as a rocks glass, drinking glass, pencil holder, candy dish, or wherever your creativity takes you! $10 of each candle sold will be donated to Cancer Support Community.

Supporting the Cancer Support Community

A portion of profits from the sales of the boob candles will benefit the Cancer Support Community, a non-profit uplifts and strengthens people impacted by cancer by providing support, fostering compassionate communities, and breaking down barriers to care.

Cancer Support Community (CSC) Montana is one of over 40 affiliates of CSC and has two thriving chapters located in Bozeman and Missoula where you will find a full range of supportive programs for people with cancer and their loved ones in a comfortable home-like setting. In addition, there are Resource Centers located in small communities across Montana. All programs are offered free of charge.
