ALL ABOUT ANNIE

Annie dressed as a reading fairy, Annie's Reading Corner

JAnnie has been a Heyday sales team superstar since 2019. She plays an important role as the face of Heyday in the store, going out of her way to treat every customer like they're the most special person in the room. Often times first time customers become Annie's newest friends.

Annie co-founded Annie’s Reading Corner with Heyday owner, Mallory Dabney, in 2021 as a way to bring the Bozeman community together, specifically littles one and their parents/grandparents. She has a true gift of making books exciting, as she captivates the young audience with her charisma and fun costumes.

10/28 FEATURED READS

On Oct. 28, Annie's Reading Corner will celebrate Halloween with costumes and a read from the two of our favorite stories, Goodnight Moon and A Monster Called Pip.

Originally published in 1947, Goodnight Moon is an American children’s book, written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd. This classic children’s literature has been loved by many generations of readers and listeners. Enjoy this great read about “a great green room,” a bunny and many wonderful familiar things in the room, as the bunny says goodnight.

The second featured story is, A Monster Called Pip, from Jellycat’s storybook collection. This is a fun read about a cute monster, with takeaways about doing your best and accepting who you are. Written by Craig Shuttlewood, this book brings beautiful pictures with sweet rhymes, making it the perfect addition to Annie’s Reading Corner.

Both stories are available for purchase at the event.

10/21 FEATURED READ

On Oct. 21, Heyday featured guest author, Santral Lusin, at Reading Corner. She, alongside Annie, delighted the audience with a read from her sweet story, Cloud your Burps are Loud.

First of a three part series of books, Cloud your Burps are Loud is about the sounds you hear during a rainstorm and where those noises come from. Are they burps from a cloud, perhaps, or something else?

Santral Lusin is an artist, illustrator, and teller of tales. She grew up in Kennewick, Washington and now resides in Bozeman, Montana. She has a graduate background in modern U.S. History, mother of two young children, the volunteer community coordinator for a local Montessori school, and SCBWI member who has spent years working in the nonprofit world. She is intrigued by the colorful world around her and sees art as a medium through which our dreams speak. Kids need to see themselves reflected in joy filled stories not just biographies, historical fiction or cause books.

10/14 FEATURED READS

On Oct. 14, Annie’s Reading Corner featured two special books from Milkbarn, Birdy Brave and The Little Rooster. Both books include beautiful illustrations and whimsical watercolor by Haley Hunt, bringing each book to life on every page.

Get ready for a perfect bedtime story with our first read, Birdy Brave, by Shaylene King. This sweet story explores the value of bravery and self-acceptance with Birdy Brave and friends. A tender tale with moments of love that become life lessons.

In addition to writing, Shaylene King is the founder of the non-profit organization, The Mean Girl Extinction Project, where she is dedicated to empowering and equipping girls and young women with the skills to cultivate kindness in the girl world.

Our second book, The Little Rooster, is presented to us by Rory Feek, a talented singer-songwriter and celebrated storyteller. He has created this timeless and heartfelt ode to Tennessee farm life, in this heartfelt tale about a day on the farm with The Little Rooster.
